Today was day 2 of the tour and also Independence Day for our country, July 4th. We could not have been any more all American than we were - unless we could have added fireworks! We started the day in Hershey, PA at Chocolate World and then toured the town enough to visit the Rose Gardens, drive by Hershey Park, and drive by Founders Hall. Milton Hershey was an amazing man who gave his chocolate fortune to the school that bears his name in this wonderful town. The school is the largest tuition free private school in the country for grades K-12. Students who attend the school have all tuition, housing, clothing, meals, health care, and other needs provided for them through the proceeds of your chocolate purchases. So buy those Kisses!! After our visit to Hershey we drove for 30 minutes to the heart of the Amish country in Lancaster, PA where our accomodations awaited us for the evening at the Heritage Hotel. We took a tour of the countryside with a local step on tour guide and made stops at a country roadside stand and a farm with a quilt/gift shop. This evening we walked next door to the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre for a wonderful production of "Footloose". A long and busy day packed with fun!
Chocolate and Amish Country! Must be Pennsylvania!
