We spent a weekend in Alexandria, a coastal city known for its rich Mediterranean history. The climate was also a little cooler, moderated somewhat by the sea, and was welcome after stints in the Nile Valley and the daytime desert heat. We explored an old Roman theatre, numerous archaeological sites including some uncovered mosaic installations, and the new Bibliotheca Alexandria.
