"Coming out of upper Egypt, we stopped off at Mt. Sinai before proceeding further north. The thing to do if you ever are at Mt. Sinai is climb up at about 2:00A.M. and watch the sunrise from the top. We decided that it was a little too early for us to rise, and decided to hike up the night before and camp about 40 minutes from the top. We were admittedly skeptical about the tales we were told of hordes of tour buses pulling up, unloading loads of tourists up onto the mountain, but sure enough, at about 5:00 we were awoken by the distant murmur of voices and poked our heads out of the tent to find hundreds of flashlight toting tourists climbing Mt. Sinai like it was a big ant hill. Regardless of the company, the sunrise was unforgettable.

Our next destination was Jordan, and we made it there after a long day of bumpy buses, a little hitching, a taxi or two and two boarder crossings (you actually have to pass through about 3 miles of Israel to get into Jordan).
