I love London and I'm ready to admit it. After realizing my obsession with books set in London, British accents, Hugh Grant, and finally the city of London itself, I admit that I have a problem. Perhaps I was British in a past life - either way you look at it, I need to move there or seek help immediately.

So it won't surprise you that one of the highlights of our cross country trip was seeing the London Bridge in Arizona. There's something magical about seeing the bridge with palm trees in the background, several days after being on the road in Americana. The bridge is now in Lake Havasu City, Arizona complete with British pub, double decker bus, and located about 20 minutes off of the 40 freeway. It's a little British Oasis, slightly touristy but really pretty and special for some reason. We took photos, walked on the bridge and headed back to the car. A nice little diversion from our long journey home. To find out why the bridge is there, visit: http://www.lakehavasu.com/

We found lake havasu very unfriendly to out of towners. Other boaters and us felt as if we were being targeted. We did not get ticketed but we saw several out of state people get tickets for doing the same thing as locals. We wont be back. The london bridge area was run down, the police overbearing, and the locals just plain unfriendly. Laughlin is just north of Havasu and friends who went there said Lake Mohave was great.
