An early start. Had to be in the dealership by 8.30 for the first service. We followed Patty who showed no defference to speed limits! We managed to keep up but we're convinced it reduced her fuel consumption in her Toyota Prius down from 47mpg to around 20.

Teh hospitality at the dealership was excellent. We met an attractive girl biker called Jane who was also having her service. She invited Warrior for a ride out together over the week-end. He wimped out claiming the GS was not an off road machine!

"Go on Barry I dare you to talk to him.."

Patty took us all downtime for breakfast at Mothers. This was THE best breakfast to date ..made even better as Martin paid for it (top man). Following a belly full of eggs, hash browns, toast, eggs and eggs Patty pointed out a local celebrity ..a member of a local Portland band who had sold over 2 million records worldwide...more to follow on this - suffice to say we were invited for a tour around his office and living quarters.

Then for a walk around Portland. A great city, busy, bustling and more importantly full of places to eat and drink. We stopped for a brief beer and had fun (as always) with a chirpy bar-maid. We put a foot into Foyles, the biggest bookshop this side of Pluto... also a pick-up joint! Some particularly dodgy characters in the science fiction section.

Back to collect the bikes and on to Pattys.

A wash and scrub-up later and we were off to treat Patty and Martin to an evening meal out. The venue was a resturant in downtown Portland ..a converted whorehouse oops warehouse. Back to base where Martin challenged us to a Wii on the 50" screen in the den.

The Europeans smashed the USA in the Ryder Cup (in other words Warrior just managed to win at the golf - Martin was nowhere). The highlight however was a Slasher comeback on the 10 pin bowling - thrashing all competition. OK, Martin fluked his way to victory in the Davis Cup tennis despite a lack-lustre backhand.

Boinnng - time for bed.
