Travel day to London

This was a travel day, moving our tour group from Paris to London.  Our two buses drove to Calais to catch the Eurotunnel Shuttle train.  The train is a huge shell designed to carry drive-on vehicles (buses, trucks, cars) between Calais, France and Folkestone, U.K. using the Eurotunnel running under the English Channel.  The train interior easily accomodated our double decker buses.  When we arrived at the Thistle Marble Arch Hotel, our bus driver sadly shook his head and wished us good luck.  The reason soon became apparent.  The hotel was an old one and did not have a place to disembark bus passengers.  We had to unload all our luggage onto the sidewalk of a sidestreet and then carry them into the second floor lobby--luckily there was an escalator.  There was no room for our luggage in the lobby so we had to line the hallways until the hotel management opened a dining room to store our luggage while we checked in.  After that fiasco, we were released to enjoy shopping on Oxford Street.  I went straight to bed to try to shake my cold.
