Primera Noche

After getting only a few hours of sleep prior to crossing the frigid tundra between Adel and Des Moines "International" Airport I said goodbye to my parents and began the first leg of a multi, multi-leg journey.  I made it to Dallas Fort Worth okay and barely got on the flight to Miami.  But I did.

In Miami I was quickly informed that I would be flying business class, seat 3A by the window.  Not bad.  After enjoying free champagne and wine we started cutting through the clouds to land in Quito.

The airport was a cinch and I quickly arrived at the Secret Garden Inn, located in the Old Town of Quito.  It's a decent place, but only the beginning.
