Mannequin Pis which we all found hilarious.

Brussels

We arrived in the ghetto of Brussels at around 9am after a record 38 minute flight – the Captain said so – he even surprised himself! Quite a funny captain actually. He told us that smoking was not allowed in the cabin and reminded us that it was also bad for your health lol. The plane arrived and we then took a bus into town.

We found our way into town from the train station, using the most confusing map ever and headed for the Christmas markets. We strolled though the streets, on guard of all the people that stared at us… just a little ghetto! In general the Belgium people and lovely and polite :o)

We devoured fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate, meringue-esque chocolate coated treats – kind of like snowballs/marshmallows but apparently ‘marshmallows are so last year’.

We lost half the group for about ½ hour but continued on to on sightseeing so we could leave and head off to Bruges which we had been told was a lot nicer.

Sights:

· Random fountain surrounded by a lookout

· Some random square with the featured sculpture surrounded by scaffolding (it’s EVERYWHERE in Europe)

· So many gay bars/ stores

· The main square which is beautiful & medieval with a huge Christmas tree

· Mannequin Pis which we all found hilarious. It was dressed up festively as St Nicholas.

· A randomly huge horn, that despite trying, neither Nathan or Ed could make noise come out.

After about 4 hours, we headed for the train station, battling the wind along the way, grabbed subway for lunch and got the heck out of the hole they call Brussels.

ALL BELGIUM PHOTOS ARE IN THIS ENTRY. I forgot to separate them into cities but it took forever to load them so they are staying here :op
