Went on a tour of Lantau Island today and saw the "largest outdoor, bronze, sitting Buddha". The monument is wow but a commentary on the stuff inside the Buddha was very enlightening (no pun intended). Also had a tour of Tai O fishing village on it's west coast. If you haven't already, BUY PROPERTY HERE NOW!! A Disney theme park and a bridge to Macau is in the making. I gotta say, one thing I was really dissapointed about was the McDonalds on Lantau that can be seen as soon as you get off the ferry. And the one at the Peak too. And the food sign at the peak that was symbolised by a M symbol on a drink and the junk boat Macca's advert (picture to come eventually)

After the tour finished at 4:30pm it was still light (horray! a welcome change from Europe) so I headed up to The Peak (Victoria Peak) and checked out the view whilst it was still day time, hung around a bit and then checked out the view at night time. It wasn't too bad. I found a free pair of binoculars and spent 15mins in the day and 15 mins in the night spying on people -- I mean, staring the windows of the buildings.

On the ferry from Hong Kong Island to Kowloon I got hit on by some Pakastani guy. I obviously look like a tourist. Bloody hell.

Hello, where are you from? Australia. Where are you from.

... What's your name? Sandra. What's your name.

... Do you study? Yes, I just finished. I'm on holiday between study and work (it stops people from asking what you do for work)

... Which hotel are you staying at? Over there *points to Kowloon* You don't know the name? Yes I do. (and just leave it at that)

Are you travelling by yourself? No, with my boyfriend Where is he? He's waiting at the information centre (which is about 1 minute from the ferry centre). He didn't go to the Peak with you? No, he didn't want to. He's been there. He went shopping instead.

*Say bye BEFORE you get off the ferry and get lost in the crowd as they get off*

Girls, LIE. LIE LIE. LIE through your teeth, be vague and you are always taken!! But be polite. It seems to do the trick.

I headed down for the 8pm light show on the Hong Kong Island buildings. Not bad either. I wish I had a radio to listen in to the music and commentary though. Hong Kong made good use of it's smog here. It must be amazing during Chinese New Year.

Next stop was dinner. I found a food court (finally!). They're hidden in malls. Food is okay there. Still don't trust street peddlers. Well, it's the polluted road the serve on that I don't trust. I believe the trick to happy travelling is staying healthy.

After staying in the street markets until the major shops closed at 11pm, I've come to the conclusion that Australians have pretty decent hours, Europeans don't work much and Asians are down right workaholics. The night market doesn't close until midnight. Gosh. 12 hour days.
