Moving up the California coast was wonderful. No, we did not drive up #1 along the cliffs overlooking the Pacific. Call me chicken.
We did stay inland and drove our Chevy over to the coast and saw some spectacular scenes such as miles of vineyards and cabbages being harvested. The pictures don't do the scenes we viewed, justice.
Paso Robles and Hollister, CA
At Paso Robles, we visited Hearst Castle and were absolutely in awe with the ostentatious furnishings William Randolph Hearst's "country house". Movie stars like Carol Lombard, Jimmy Stewart, Charlie Chaplin were guests of Mr. Hearst when he resided here as well as other residences in Beverly Hills, New York and other locations. Mr. Hearst was a publishing giant and owned mulitple newspapers, radio stations and early TV stations. Today, the Hearst Castle is owned and managed by the State of California.

Traveled North to a great RV resort called Casa De Fruta near Hollister, CA. Dining at the local restaurant, winery, ice cream shop, small railroad to tour the grounds, and other points of interest connected to resort were very pleasant. An Elks club group and a Rv club was there and thank goodness - had an issue with an uncooperative awning. After several attempts, a good samaritan came over and assisted, but not before I had managed to break it. Now I have to order a new part. Jack Kelly, that duct tape is coming in handy. I owe you.
