Aislinn and Rob has visited no places in Trinidad

We have spent the last couple of days in Trinidad. The streets here are cobbled and lined with beautiful colonial style houses, painted in rainbow pastel colours (this is Aislinn typing obviously). This has been one of our favourite places so far, we spent yesterday wandering round the streets admiring the buildings and visited the Museo Nacional de la Lucha Contra Los Bandidos (The National Museum of the fight against the bandits) which documents the struggle of the revolutionary forces against counter revolutionary 'bandits' in the years after the revolution. The museum is housed in an old convent so we were able to climb the (slightly scary) bell tower to see some amazing views of the town. We also went to a popular local bar to watch bands perform. One of the highlights was visiting El Cueva, Trinidad´s nightclub, housed in a cave in the hillside which was very cool, 5th Avenue doesn´t really compare...

We also had the chance to go on a catamaran cruise to visit the Keys near Trinidad(Cuba has over 1600 in total). We had our own catamaran complete with crew who took us on the two hour journey to the islets. On the way we stopped the boat and one of the crew members dived into the sea with just snorkelling gear. He swam to the bottom and resurfaced with a lobster! When we neared the island we were heading for,we had the opportunity to go snorkelling around a coral reef where we saw loads of beautiful and colourful fish. After that we moved onto the island which is called Isla de las Iguanas and true to its name it is home to loads of iguanas as well as 'tree rats' which look like beavers. Here we has a seafood paella complete with aforementioned lobster and a fish which we had caught of the way inside (very tasty).
