Santiago, Chile
From South American Honeymoon in Santiago, Chile on Mar 29 '08
Well, we made it. Our second to last border crossing was one of the easiest. We took a bus from Mendoza and made it here in about seven hours. IT was a beautiful drive as we crossed the huge peaks the stretch along the border. We got to see Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas and yes, it is quite impressive. We only spent one night in Santiago before we head north to get a huge chunk of our travelling stretch done. We need to make it to Ecuador by the 11th of April and want to spend a few days in Huaraz, Peru so we are really going to book it north. Also there´s the fact that Chile is really expensive compared to everywhere else and, at the end of our three month trip, we can´t really afford to hang out in a place that´s this pricey. The city seemed nice enough, but not as intriguing as Buenos Aires, Montevideo, or Quito. We head out early tomorrow morning so we´re going to try and get some sleep. I don´t know how we´re going to survive 30 hours cooped up in a bus, but we´ll let you all know when we get there.
