Cliffs of Moher
From K&J's EUROPEAN TRIP in Claregalway, Ireland on Aug 31 '07
· Today was a day to rest the bones and heal the muscles. We left our great camp-spot and headed for Limerick. Here we, again, went straight for the info centre. We found a park that was free for visitors to King Georges Castle. We convinced we were going in for a visit- we may have told a little bit of a fib! Got a full days parking for free though haha. Anyway walking like nanna’s we went the wrong way into the city. It was a lovely place, quite busy and groovy. We found another café with wi-fi but it was far to busy so we went to a pub and recharged everything J. Starving, we took off and made 2 min noodles for lunch then drove to find a campsite for the night. Realising how close to the Cliffs of Moher we were, we went to check them out instead. Pity the sun wasn’t out but that didn’t take away from how amazing they were. Spectacular is the only word to use. We watched as idiot people stood right on the very edge (no barriers) just to take closer photos, keeping in mind these cliffs have a 700+ feet drop straight down to the ocean. We then traveled along a crappy road for about 15km’s to find a good spot for the night. After reading our books for about 2 hours we realised that our campsite was going under with the incoming tide so off we went to a residential area to park. An old lady that lived close by watched through her windows as we put the windscreen shield up and obviously didn’t appreciate it! At around 11pm, we were woken by headlights pulling up right beside then van. A little pull back of the curtains, we realised the lights belonged to the Irish Garda (cops).(“Shit”!!!) As we were all legit, nothing was said or done. Off to sleepies. Kev and Jules- 1, Old lady- 0!!!!
