Being lazy already on Ko Chang island

Much of our time in Bangkok was spent planning our trip around the region, seeing as our planning together had been almost nil up to then. After some starts and misstarts we finally settled on going to Cambodia first of all, and then looked for a suitable beach to stop off at on the way, to wash off some of Bangkok's sticky heat. Ko Chang it was!
Once on the island, after a 5 hour bus trip and a 1 hour boat ride, we stopped at the first beach we came to, and didnt move for 3 days. Almost literally. We had grand plans for hiring motorbikes to explore the island, but lying on the beach just seemed easier. We got there in time to have our first swim in the dying light of the sunset over the sea, and to see the almost full moon rise over the hills behind us. After our being-at-the-beach celebratory cocktail we watched a fire performance from our deck chairs, involving half naked thai men swirling sticks and poi's of fire, and thought ourselves very lucky.
Unfortunately Rach wasn't feeling so lucky the next day, having caught the dreaded travellors bug, but we couldn't have been at a better place for it to happen. Doctors orders were lots of reading of books under coconut trees, interspersed with some floating in nearly unpleasantly warm water, and that was what we did for our 2 days at the beach. I tried to fight off my slight feelings of guilt at being so lazy so early on in the trip, seeing as we were supposed to be having adventures, but soon got over that as well.
