To get to Pompeii we were directed to get a cheaper bus there. When we got there we realised that it probably wasnt such a great idea. No one at all spoke any English and there were no signs etc anywhere. Somehow we managed to get on the right bus and luckily for us we looked like dumb tourists and a nice woman grabbed David and yelled "Pompeii, Pompeii" when we had to get off.

Pompeii was breathtaking and eerie. We didnt realise the size of this place. The whole city (and we mean city - take away food venues, brothels, magistrate building, markets, entertainment venues and baths) was so well preserved by the volcanic eruption that it made it so easy to imagine life back in 100 BC. There was really well preserved artwork and even graffiti all over the buildings. The other amazing thing here was the preserved bodies. There were people in all sorts of painful looking positions in the city and you can just imagine them trying to run from the volcano or trying to hide their faces - pretty creepy. We had a great time wandering through ruined houses and villas and exploring this amazing city.
