Tuesday 19th June – Olympos – Antalya

Another scorching hot day! Breakfast again was lovely and fresh and the apple tea went down a treat! We decided to catch the 12pm bus to Antalya but our host said that she could take us directly at 4pm to the old town, so we decided to lounge around the open air treehouses with rugs and cushions inside and play a few games of table tennis. Leigh fell asleep in the treehouse and due to the heat woke up drenched in sweat. I thought Egypt was hot but this is relentless!

We headed off to Antalya in the afternoon and arrived at our hostel in the old town and was greeted by a mad Aussie host. Had a glass of wine and beer in the courtyard and watched backgammon being played by experts. We then decided to wander around the town and got a nice freshly squeezed orange juice and a bag of nuts. The nuts included a dried popcorn which was delicious. Leigh played his part negotiating prices in the markets and managed to get a few free drinks of Guarana and a berry tea. After feeling totally exhausted from the heat we decided to sit down and have dinner. Jo had a lovely salad and Leigh a kebab. We then had a Turkish icecream which was a bit of a show in itself. The icecream man makes it for you then as you go to grab it flips it upside down and keeps tempting you with it! After that we were both looking forward to getting into an air conditioned room so after a bit of surfing on the net we went home and chilled out around 11pm.
