· We woke to another typical English gloomy, rainy day. Lyn looked after our washing (what an angel) whilst we set off to get some jobs done. One of which was to see when we could get a ticket on the ferry over to Calais (France). Brilliant……..we were booked on the 5.20pm that arvo. Woohoo!! Then it was a typical mad rush to get to the bank, shopping, post office, quick chat to Robbie and to scoff down some lunch that Lyn had made for us, before tackling the London traffic to get down to Dover. We only just arrived in time (thanks to traffic jams), and to add to the stress our fuel gauge was sitting on extremely empty! Luckily we made it onto the boat but we were convinced they would have to tow the van off as we were definitely running on fumes! The ferry trip was very choppy but it only took about an hour and a half- time to relax. Once again Wikki came through for us and we did get to the servo. Mind you that meant Kev had to learn quick smart to drive on the other side of the road. With only 1 stuff up at the round about- exiting it on the wrong side of the road, we gave Wikki a good drink. 70.5 ltres she took…..in a 70 ltre tank haha woops!!! We really liked Calais at a first glance. Even though we had absolutely no idea what signs we were reading and where we were going, we ended up finding the most perfect spot for campervans for the night overlooking the beach and ferry port. Brilliant!!
