Prague is a really beautiful old city. We stayed right in the centre where you find all the sights. In the centre is where the old part of town is, the castle and Charles Bridge. The rest of Prague seems to be much newer and modern, and loses the old world charm that the centre has. But as you go further to the edges of the city and come across the countryside it is really pretty.

We spent 2 nights in Prague but the first night we arrived late so it felt like only one day and one night, which is a little sad because we could have spent another day. We did see everything we wanted and met some nice people, also had a big night of drinking.

We woke up early the day after we arrived, we knew we had to get an early start. Luckily Prague is pretty small so we managed to see everything we wanted to in about 4 hours. We first made our way through the Staré Město, the old part of town, to the old town square, which had lots of lovely buildings and churches. Such as the Tyn Church that was built in 1365 and St Nicholas Church, which was built in the 1730’s.

Then from there we crossed the Charles Bridge. The Charles Bridge crosses the Vltava River and has 30 statues running along its edges that date back to the 18th century. All the statues seemed to be of a religious nature. The bridge is lined with jewellery stalls, portrait artists and street performers, as well as a stupid amount of tourists. On the other side of the bridge there are more shops and restaurants running down cobbled streets. The Prague Castle is also on this side of the river.

Prague castle is on top of a hill and to get to the top we had to climb up the old castle steps. The steps were quite step and Erin needed a rest every now and then. But once up the top the view was truly breathtaking. It was a warm day and the sky was a beautiful blue. The skyline was nothing compared to Melbourne’s, the tiled red roof tops and the river winding through the city was a gorgeous sight and photos do not do it justice. Inside the castle walls is an amazing cathedral called St Vitus Cathedral.

We strolled back to our hostel for an afternoon nap but struggled to sleep so just rested instead. That afternoon we bought some local beers from across the road. For a 500ml bottle it cost about 80 cents, I think we drunk a good 3 or 4 litres of beer each. We met a couple of nice aussie guys, a group of cool brits and Erin had a big chat to two girls from South America. It was a fun night, we played cards and chatted and went out for a couple of Mojitos before bed. It was after three when we climbed up into our bunk beds.

The next day we made our way to Český Krumlov. Feeling a bit seedy we checked out at 10 and made our way to the bus station with a quick maccas stop on the way. We wanted to catch the 11:15am but it was booked when we got to the station at 10:45 so we had to wait for the 12:45. It was all right we watched the local homeless check the vending machines fro money. One guy actually got some money, Erin was excited for him.

Now were in Český Krumlov, so I will write that blog tomorrow and tell you all about our journey here and Český’s heavenly beauty.
