Ljubljana is quite an interesting city.  The architecture of the buildings is so beautiful, but it is hilarious because they splash all these crazy colors on the buildings.  The colors of the building kinda reminded me of the interior of our house, not following much of a pattern from one place to the next! (that is a good thing, mom!).  All on the same street, there were yellow, green, orange, red, cream, and brown buildings.  How hilarious.

Ljubljana didn't really strike me as that much of an exciting city.  There was a castle, which was cool. I hiked up to it with my backpack on, and when I got to the top, I thought I was going into cardiac arrest.  As I kinda paced around catching my breath, some Slovene lady comes over and taps me on the shoulder, as if I were dying, and walks on.  Quite strange. But the castle was quite nice.  There were great views of the city.  There were a bunch of American kids there, probably my age, who were talking about quite crude things, so I just sat and listened to them until one girl says, "shhh she can hear everything that we are saying" and the guy next to her says, "oh look at her, she doesn't speak english."  After that the rest of the group agreed.  i couldn't help but laugh to myself, walk up to them, and say hey guys, I speak English, I'm American.  I thought maybe they were going to poop their pants.  ha, poor kids.

Then I walked down to this square, and there was some Slovene man playing old American songs.  He sang 'Roadhouse Blues' by the Doors, then some Pink Floyd, and Eric Clapton.  It was quite strange, and I felt like I was dreaming or something!

Well I was getting a little worried this day, because the person I was supposed to stay with didn't answer my texts, and when I tried calling, the voice said the number didn't exist...eeek!  After about 7 minutes of panicking in downtown Ljubljana, I realized that for international calls, you have to put either a + or 00 in front of the number.  Woops.  My bad.  So finally that night, I met up with Spyro, whom I met on couchsurfing.  Spyro is from Ireland, but has been traveling around for the past 2 years, and is the same age as me.  We probably spent the most random night together.  We went and watched the Ireland v. England Rugby game.  I know nothing about rugby, it is SO confusing to me.  Then we got food, and went to this place called the squat, which is next to a really popular hostel.  The compound is really a bunch of different bars that surround a central, outdoors kitchen.  So we went to all the bars, had tea in each of them, I forgot how much I like tea.  I tried Cockta.  Cockta is Slovenia's version of Coca-cola, except I think it has about 80 times the sugar content.  I thought my teeth were going to fall out.  It was pretty good though!  We saw a Slovene Punk rock band, which was quite odd, among other things.  Towards the end of the night, we ran into two Americans who are in the Air Force in Italy.  How do I run into these guys all the time, I have no idea!  Turns out they're running a marathon in Florence in April, so I guess I will dress up in red white and blue and cheer them on!  ha!  they were nice guys!

My time in Slovenia was quite nice, but I was ready to leave after a couple of days!
