When my volunteering project with raleigh was cut back from 3 months to 2 months (July & August), I wondered what I would do to fill in the gaps. The month spent travelling around NZ had proved slightly more over budget than anticipated, so I decided to stay in the country for another 6 weeks and see if I could pick up any work in the hostels until it was time to leave for the states. So after hanging out in Auckland for a week, I headed back down to the rafting lodge where we had white-water rafted. I spent some time there being a 'slave', working for my food and accommodation. It was great fun, I got to raft aagain and had lots of fun.

Then I swung back up to Auuckland and back up to Val's place, where I hung out with Val, her daughter leah and her 3 kids. Spent a great week up there, did lots of fishing and caught up on all the kid's movies!
