Chatuchak Weekend Market or popularly known as JJ Market by the locals is a truly shopping paradise. This market covers an area of approximately 35 hectars, containing more than 15,000 shops & stalls. It's like a labyrinth in there & the probability to get yourself lost is very, very high. Maps on the shops / stalls' overlay is provided but trying to follow a map around can be very frustating.

The only drawback to this place is it's opening day/time. It is only open during the weekend, from 9 am till 8 pm the most. So, if you're happen to be in Bangkok, make sure u'll be there on weekedns or you'll missed the great deal of your shopping life ! Chatuchak is very humid & hot during the day but people still went there coz the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. So, it is receommended to go there early when it's not yet too hot & crowded.

Chatuchak is a shopping heaven for it's price & variety. They have almost everything there from clothings, shoes, accessories, books, plants, furnitures and even pets! The prices are generally substantially cheaper than other parts of the city. Most transactions are by cash - so please bring lots of Bahts if you tend to do a shopping spree here. Bargaining is allowed but you won't really need to do that since the prices are already very cheap.

Since I stayed in Westin Sukhumvit, so I can only guide you guys from here. Westin is a strategic location as it is only a walking distance to both the BTS Skytrain (Asok Station) & Metro Subway (Sukhumvit Station) stations. The best way to go to Chatuchak is by taking the Metro. The nearest Metro station to Chatuchak is the Kamphaeng Phet station, which is the 10th station from Asok. Ticket fare is 35 Baht. Once you reach the Kamphaeng Phet station, you'll be brought to the market which is just beside the station.
