Charleston—Day One

When we arrived in Charleston, it was hot as blue blazes! Being from the South, we were already used to that. We settled into our hotel, which unfortunately was across the river and away from the downtown area. We originally believed that our hotel was in downtown Charleston, so this was a little upsetting at first. Still, we weren't too far from all the action, so all was good.

We decided to head into town for a quick look around and to grab a bite to eat before our Ghost tour later that night. We went  to the open-air market area before walking down to The Battery. How incredibly gorgeous was The Battery?!? The sun was just starting to sink from the sky as the last rays illuminated the pink, yellow, sage green and colonial blue Charlestonian mansions that make up the Battery. We snapped a few photos before heading back to the hotel to get ready for our ghost tour.
