Barcelona
From The Journey Begins in Barcelona, Spain on Jul 14 '06
We arrived in Barcelona exhausted from a very lively night on the train and slept most of the day away, then we were off to see the Sagrada Familia cathedral started by the architect Gaudi in 1882, and which is STILL being built, very cool to see the differences of the old and new and WOW is it breathtaking, so gothic with details like I have never seen, we spent hours just wandering around and then looking at it eating gelato. I woke up in the middle of the night sick though and had a fever the whole next day, so unfortunately our sightseeing was once more limited. The city is amazing though, so vibrant with lots going on, day 3 we walked the city and wandered the tiny streets with cool shops, then headed to the waterfront to look at boats and have supper. We went to the Museu Picasso also which was SO great. He started out as this normal painting and you get to see him gradually getting more crazy with his art and finally the cubism stuff that he is so well known for, DEFINATELY a highlight of the trip!!
We were in a bit of a hurry to get to Madrid as Cam was leaving from there, so I thought Id go and say goodbye and head back to Barcelona later!
