Tonight I went swimming with six of my girls. One of them was celebrating her 11th birthday and had invited all the older girls at school for a sleepover...and they invited me for the swim! (Since I'm so cool and everything...)  ;)

When I got in the car, I was immediately bowled over by loud singing of various songs - camp songs, Disney songs, songs from musicals...

I'm not saying my students can't sing, because some of them are actually very good singers. I guess I just wasn't prepared for it (though I should have expected it!). And so our trip to the pool continued. :)

Yep. He's even over here.

The pool we went to is part of the athletic club that my coteachers belong to, so I had been there once before. But this time, it was much more crowded! When I'd gone swimming with my coteachers, there were just a handful of people there, but tonight...wow!

There were probably twenty people in the water and about thirty having a "private" party off to the side of the pool. Then there were people walking around and eating at the cafe and going in and out of the exercise rooms...

I guess the nightlife picks up at the pool too! Everything seems to happen at night here - the markets, eating out...so many more restaurants are open late at night here. Honestly, though, I'd rather swim in the daytime when it's warmer - the air was quite cool this evening!

For some reason, Mr. Bean is hugely popular here. The video store to the right of the television screen has the Mr. Bean cartoon playing every time I walk by!

After we left the pool, we went back to the birthday girl's house for pumpkin pie! Granted, it wasn't quite as good as Grandma's, but hey, ain't nothin' like Grandma's pie!!

We finished our pie and went upstairs to watch the movie Bride and Prejudice, a Bollywood parallel of Pride and Prejudice. The movie follows the story of an American man who falls in love with an Indian woman and the easily anticipated culture clash... It was a great movie, and my girls loved singing and dancing along to "No Life Without Wife," one of the songs in the movie.

I finally made it home around 12:30am... If I wasn't a night owl before coming here, I sure am becoming one now! Time for bed - I'm exhausted!
