south coast

So, we are in Pamplona...this was after:

we hit a freak snow storm while hiking in Andorra(in August!!); the scenery and hiking was still amazing but we decided that we should move on or we would freeze to death!

went to Barcelona with this idea that everyone that conplained at how unsafe it was are just big whinners and just not used to big cities. then ten minutes after we get off the bus Jer almost got pickpocketed; the rest of the city was really cool with tons to see but just too expensive to stay so, we moved on befor we went broke! Besided we thought we needed a beach day after the mountains.

headed south to two different hellishly overdeveloped beach cities. The guide book made the area sound great but really it was full of families from all over Europe there to just sit on the beach for the whole month of august. It was because of the families that we found no acommidation. so, we ended up sleeping on the beach with a couple of other backpackers. We didn't get a beach day but rather a beach night. we woke up the next day to realize that we slept right next to dog poop! The other bachpackers were really cool people to hung out with so at least it was good to share the experience with somebody else... and if Germany starts consuming more PB&J sandwiches when americans, that is because we introduced the delicacy to them for breakfast on the beach after we took care of the moving the dog poop!

So, we got a little scared that the whole of the mediterrian spain would be hi-rise hotels with nobody that speaks Spanish so we decided to go to the northern coast. So after waking up on the beach we get on a bus and head north. First stop: Pamplona. Here we get one of the best rooms that we have had yet and sleep for hours after taking a VERY long shower! And Pamplona is a cool city even if we did miss the running of the bulls!
