Man,. I hate headbands. They look really nice, or at least they usually do, so I put them in and arrange my hair pieces around them. Then, inevitably, in less than an HOUR, my skull is throbbing like I'm being rhythmically beat to death by an anvil. The tips of the headband have lodged themselves so firmly into my temples that I have to wrestle with the thing to actually release my head. Now, I've got some killer hair with a headband-shaped dent about the earline....

It's a Friday, which promises great things regardless of the time of year or temperature. I'm going to go to the Friday night lecture tonight that was organized by our Trade Justice society. It's a speaker from Green & Black, the first all-organic company that produced a chocolate bar (predictably makes them heroic amongst youth). Tomorrow (Sat.), I'm going to Cardiff with my dormie, The Tinkster. We're going to pick up her friends who are visiting from Norway. I'm hoping to get in some valuable post office and grocery store shopping time, though you never know. A little Subway may even be in the cards... it depends on how forcefully I'm feeling the exchange rate ($4 isn't TOO bad for a sandwich unless you've never paid more than $3.50 for it). Sunday, I'm spending the day with my link family. On the bright side (or dark side, depending on your scholastic leanings), it looks like no time for homework....

I got a letter from Madeline the other day. I recognized the spotted envelope in my pigeon hole immediately. I saved it until after lunch, so I could savour the lines as I walked back up main drive toward my student house. She's well, not too busy (she says), for which I am grateful. I think everyone's senior year should include a little bit of a sigh-time (sorry, Susan, I know yours didn't).

There's been a problem with theft lately in my house. I haven't had anything stolen, mostly because I have nothing worth stealing. But, one girl who had £10 stolen was sobbing as she "retold her story," which makes me think of the old saying, "thou dost protest too much." Clarissa, my new dormie, says that sometimes people say they've had things stolen because they want to "joint the club" or they've just lost something. I found her story a bit unconvincing, but to be fair, there have been numerous stories about theft lately. I lock my drawers and carry the key.... it's worked so far.
