It was a bit of an ordeal at first. We decided to take advantage of the RyanAir cheap flights - £25 return each. So a bargain to say the least, however what we didn't factor for was that Oslo is the second most expensive city in the world!

So after a short flight we land at the RyanAir airport which is, surprise surprise, 2 hours out of Oslo. So all in all, we spent all day Friday in transit, and all day Sunday in transit. Not to mention that we missed the bus back to the airport on Sunday and had to pay a ludicrous amount of Kroner's to get a cab out to the airport!

Ha ha, the lessons you learn travelling! And this one is that Oslo is too expensive for anyone to go on the Aussie dollar, I really cringed even paying with the pound!

We were hoping for snow, but what we got was buckets of rain. Apparently it had been snowing earlier that week but we missed that, so you will see the dismal weather in the shots.

We did some sightseeing on Saturday and went out to a club that night called 'Onkel Donald' and mingled with the locals which was fun. We stumbled back to our hostel (which was quite reasonable!) and then had serious hangovers (well I did!) the next day.

Oslo is really pretty though. Ideally I recommend going in the summer because you can take trains/boat trips to the Fjord which is just such amazing scenery. As we entered Oslo (which sits south east on the edge of Norway), it was truly remarkable how flat the water was for miles and miles. Not even a tiny ripple, it looked just like glass. There were ships docked along the harbour, and the main street - Karl Johans Gate - had pretty christmas lights and decorations up.

In summary, a worthwhile taste of Scandinavia!
