Practical Information: We took the Tube from Gloucester Road to King's Cross station (lots of construction) and from King's Cross the train to Cambridge.  The trip was not quite 1.5 hours (£25.00 per person).  We took a taxi from the station to our hotel, £5.00.

Impressions: If it wasn't for the architecture Cambridge would be your typical college town.   But there is the architecture...each college entrance seems more ornate than the last one.  We took the hop-on hop-off tour of Cambridge because we wanted to go out to the American Cemetery.  However, it is an easy way to get around and you do get a great deal of history during the ride.

After all theses years it seems we've may have forgotten, but the British have not.

American Cemetery - Cambridge College donated the land for the American Cemetery to the US government after WWII.  The chapel has a metal bias relief map of the Allies movements during the war, a small altar and the stained glass windows contain the state emblem of each of the 50 states.  We were at the cemetery on 5/31 the day after our Memorial Day and we were surprised to see all the wreaths and thank you notes.  After all theses years it seems we've may have forgotten, but the British have not.

King's College Chapel - Beautiful hardly seems an adequate adjective.  The fan vaulting on the ceiling is outstandingly wonderful.

We were unable to walk through the college grounds as they were closed for exams.
