After having spend four days on the crowded Tajung Benoa Peninsula we were really looking forward for our second part of the journey, which should take us to Ubud. We could not wait to check in at the Maya Ubud Resort, a place we wanted to visit for a long time. The drive from Benoa to Ubud took us little more than a hour. Once we arrived in Ubud we had to turn off onto a small road, which should directly lead us to the Resort. The Maya Ubud is a tranquil haven embedded in a beautiful landscape combined with unintrusive first class service.

Ubud is a small town that is famous for its many cultural activities including numerous dance and music shows and shops for traditional handicrafts and art galleries. We have been dowtown on one day and walked around the main road and visited the market, which offers not much more than the usual tourism souvenirs. There is an endless number of restaurants, bars and massage salons along the road. There are several basic hotels located in the centre of Ubud, while the upmarket resorts are mainly embedded in between rice fields. To get a share of the beautiful nature around one can start hiking or biking tours departing from the Ubud Palace, right in the centre of Ubud. The tours take you along stunning rice fields, temples, local villages and the jungle.

Alltogether Ubud is a place that offers a charming mixture of amazing nature, traditional culture and tourism comforts. The airport can be reached in less than an hour and Ubud is on most day trip intineraries starting from Kuta and surroundings.
