We

caught the Eurostar and ate camembert, drank three bottles of french

wine and played Sh*thead the whole way there (and all the way back,

they kindly left me with the title so they didn't have to have one of

them with it - thanks guys!). We arrived at our hotel which was how

you might imagine the Wicked Witch of the West's house to look, the

most insanely steep, winding, crooked, rickety old stairs I've ever

happened across (stilettos were OFF for climbing these puppies) but it

was pretty funky even though we were right at the very top and the view

from our window was of the crummiest, most filthy buildings you've ever

seen! When we arrived we met up with Coupe and had

drinks at a lovley parisian sidewalk cafe / bar. On Saturday we went

shopping on the main shopping street in Paris - oddly the boys did the

buying - wandered around the Louvre, to Place de la Concorde etc and

caught the metro back. It was Coupe's birthday so that night we went

out to this stunning restaurant on the Champs de Elysee where we had

lobster and Bollinger as one should when in Paris. Then we headed to The Buddha Bar which is

quite famous, but it was crammed full, hot, sweaty and we couldn't be

bothered! So we decided to pop into an Irish Bar for a 'quiet drink'

(well, the bar was quiet, not that you'd normally associate popping

into an Irish Bar for a quiet one). And here all hell broke lose! The

bar closed except for out group of five and the bartender Michael. Well

Michael decided to get us all completely hammered - for free! There

was every shot under the sun had by us that night and it wound up with

Miss Nats and I wrapped in a French flag doing the can-can to New York,

New York...go figure! Suffice to say on Sunday we were feeling a

little worse for wear, collapsed into a restaurant for lunch (I had my

beloved escargot in garlic butter and a kir royale as hair of the

dog). But nothing a few more bottles of bubbly sitting along the Siene

couldn't fix, so that's how we spent the afternoon...getting quietly

tipsy and four of us doing a mexican wave to passers by on the river

boats.
