6 days to go until the plane takes off...already Susan can't sleep and Michelle is calculating the absolute minimum amount of studying required to pass her last two classes.

Susan's bag is fully packed (for the fifth day now), everything in its place and contingency plans ready in case of impulse purchases.  Michelle's bag is open on her floor, roughly half-packed and no plans of finishing until at least Monday morning.  Michelle felt that this was an excessively early target, and is conceding to the extra 24 hours for Susan's benefit only.

Last minute preparations are going well, but there have been a few hitches.  It turns out that no Pharmacy in town carries enough antimalarial drugs to last anyone four months, so Michelle has two days to wait for those.  As a size indicator, the Malarone alone occupies "one Jumbo Ziploc freezer bag, the kind with the zipper, not the press and stick" (Susan is nothing if not detail-oriented.) The girls realize that many finemicroorganisms await them in the tropics, so other medication is currently occupying 4L of Michelle's pack space.  From expected gastric events to possible camel allergies, everything has pretty much been covered.  Yes, we have sunscreen, yes we have solarcaine, and YES we have Muskol (the 100% DEET stuff).

In the interests of avoiding hassles like those TallGirl experienced in India (two offers for her purchase made to her boyfriend, Sparky) Michelle and Susan have invented husbands for their trip.  Susan and Michelle both have their wedding rings cleaned and polished up and are diligently practicing wearing them. Susan's husband (since August 26, 2003) is a defense attorney named Simon.  Arthur, the closeted gay businessman, is Michelle's beloved.  Depending on the situation, the husbands are either back home in Canada or "That big guy right over there".  Susan creatively named her husband after Michelle's gerbil.

Oh, and for future reference, since internet security is all Michelle EVER thinks about, all friends and family members will be henceforth referred to by the nicknames Michelle makes up on the spot.  See if you can guss yours!
