When we crossed the border from Honduras to Nicaragua we ran into a problem. A couple of tots or scammers who insisted in helping across the border were demanding $25 for the help, after professing it was free just 15 minutes ago. After some yelling and refusal to pay, one of them sat over the top of Rose's backpack. At this point it was no more mr. nice guy as I yanked him off her pack and prepared to smack him across the head. This startled them both and soon they were asking for a few dollars that I was planning to give them in the first place. I hate having to do this type of thing, but out here on the backpacker traveler road, you are a walking money bag for some people, and they will bull you over in their greed of you allow them.

For the next three hours we bounced down the dirt road, attempting to breath through the clouds of dust. Eventually we arrived in Leon.

It felt like we zoomed through Nicaragua, the dry heat of 95 degrees combined with all the Easter activities pushed us on to Costa Rica. It would be interesting at some point to delve deeper into the socialist aspect of the country. At this point my limited knowledge tells me the people rose up against a nasty dictator, when the US was supporting him because he wasn't communist. And thus suffered the consequences.
