Weekend in the Caribbean
From Pura Vida en Costa Rica in Puerto Viejo de Limon, Costa Rica on Jun 14 '06
One weekend me and some friends decided to visit Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean Coast. We rented a micro-bus for the trip and got there on a hot Friday afternoon. The heat on the coast is like nothing I’ve ever experienced; Heat, humidity, and dust is what greeted are arrival. The people on the Caribbean are amazing, full of life and sun. We pretty much danced the whole weekend at a local club called Johnny’s. Regaton, salsa, marenge, and reggae was the music of choice. It worked well with the scattered chairs and tiki torches spilling out of the club and onto the beach.

On the second day there I rented a bicycle with a few friends and rode up and down the north rode. The town of Puerto Viejo itself was really touristy, ecspecially the hostel we stayed at, which was occupied mainly by Americans. So it was nice getting out and seeing some rural area. The best part of the bike ride was the different wildlife, beaches and people we encountered. You can be sitting underneath a branch covered umbrella near the beach, drinking fresh fresa, and watch a dozen different insects and animals crawl along on their mosey way. Crazy!
Kiss the beaches of white sand

The third day I hungout on the beach, and we all left about mid-afternoon. By far the most memorable part about the Caribbean was the beaches and wildlife I saw. Dense jungles kiss the beaches of white sand while crystal like water splashes back and fourth. A most fantastic and wonderful weekend!
