Big Island continue

Well after our wonderful experience at the Volcano park, we continue on to Hilo, the other big city on the Big Island. We camped at 1 nice camp ground and visited Aka falls park, where we saw a 440 inc waterfall. Kona is the drier side of the island and Hilo is the rainy, tropical side. So it looked like you are in a rain forest the whole time. Advocado, papaya, mango and coconut trees grow freely everywhere. We spend some time on the beach\133.trying to catch a tan\133!

Wed. evening we went to meeting and spend the night at some of our friends ( they didn't want to hear anything about driving back to our campsite that was 11/2 hr. drive away). We had a wonderful time with them and we were up talking till almost 11:00. The next morning we had a lovely breakfast on the patio by the pool with them and one of the other friends and her grand son. It felt like we were at a five star resort\133\133.! It still amazes me that no matter where we go, when we meet up with our meeting friends, it just feel like you've know them all your lives.

We drove from there to Hapuna beach where we stayed in a "cabin", that turned out to be a A-frame cabin with regular wooden beds without mattresses\133..! Camping was much better.

The next day we flew back to Honolulu on Oahu. P.S. We would have loved to visit the tallest mountain in the world, Mauna Kea, with the biggest telescope on top. But it was way too expensive for budget travelers!
