Ever since my toes touched the sand in the Outerbanks eight years ago, I've been in love with this area. This is my 6th time here and everytime is different somehow.
This year, I drove down with my parents and aunt to meet my cousins, their families and some of our friends. It was the first time in awhile that there were little babies there, which made it fun, especially with a spiral staircase and uncovered electrical outlets in the floor! We usually rent a house that's big and impressive, this one - not so much. However, we loved that it was on the beach and had a living room on the third floor with wonderful views. We usually rent a house during the third week in September with the prices are 1/4 of what they are in August. Of course, this is also hurrican season. Only once did we have to be here in a storm. We actually drove into the tail end of it and found the worst part of it to be all of the mosquitos who lingered in the flooded streets days after. It's getting more crowded and built up every year, but it's still really peaceful, especially in the early fall. The beaches are not too crowded and the weather is really spectacular. We've seen dolphins swim by a few times and have even swam not too far away from them. There are plenty of seafood resturants, mini golf places, ice cream stands, and surf shops to go to (to be con...)
