More train problems

It all started to go wrong when we walked back into the hostel in Lijiang after lunch ready for an afternoon kip and picked up our train tickets for the next day that had been delivered that morning.  Our not so reliable Chinese travel agent had booked us onto an earlier train that left Kunming at 16.30 rather than the 19.30.  The problem was the first bus left Lijiang at 08.00 and took at least 9 hours and so there was no way we could make our train.

The brilliant people in our hostel came up with a plan.  If we left within an hour we could catch a bus to Dali, on the way to Kunming, spend the night there and then catch a bus that would get us to the train on time.  So no afternoon sleep, just a rushed pack and 12 hours in Dali from where we did manage to get the bus to Kunming and then catch the train to Nanning so we could connect with  our train to Vietnam
