This afternoon our ship reached the port of Naples around 1:00PM. Mike and I set off for an excursion to Pompeii. We were taken on a bus tour all the way to Pompeii and were given the history of the city and all the information about it. In Pompeii we first went to a shop where we were shown hand carved jewelery and actually watched a man carve out the most intricate details on a piece of shell only 1inch wide.

Finally we got to explore the actual ruins of Pompeii. We spent two hours on a tour and only got to see a portion of this amazing city. There were houses that were almost completely standing with mosaics on the floorof the bedrooms. A church with amazing painting on the walls and shops with ovens and counters with tile. Walking through and hearing our tour guide speak about this culture and the people that lived here and operated the city was absoutely mind blowing. From afar it was a beautiful site to look at and it is definitely some place that I would like to go back to and see the portions that I was unable to explore.

...absolutely mind blowing...

Upon returning to the ship we retreated to our cabins to find that since there are no windows, with the lights off there is pitch darkness...making it very easy to sleep for hours during the day time. In the evening we explored the casino where I managed to win 16 Euros on the Roulette table! Yay!!

PS- I also got carded 6 times during the night (you only have to be 18 to drink and gamble)...oy vey!
