A quick stop in Barcelona, Spain

Unfortunately, there are no pictures available from Barcelona. I only have a map that I picked up when converting my last $40 U.S. dollars (…sigh…) into pesetas. Marcella and I were ready to get some serious R&R for 2 days before we made our last voyage into Madrid’s airport. After “feasting” ( a term Marcella and I coined for a deliciously satisfying meal) @ Hade Rock Café, we strolled along the main boulevard to return to our hostel that we had just paid. Upon returning to the hostel, I realized that it was 6:00a.m. California time so I decided to give my parents a call. As it turned out, my brother who was working on a satellite in Toulouse, France (only a few hours away) had called my mom a few moments after I called her from Rome. You see, Marcella and I had the intent to “crash” my brother’s luxurious hotel (compliments of his company) but since we weren’t sure as to where exactly he was saying, we opted to go to Barcelona.

Realizing my brother’s proximity, I was saddened because I thought to myself, “how often will my brother and I be on the European continent @ the same time!” Immediately after I got off the phone with my mom, an impulse suddenly compelled me to look at the train schedule to see when the next train station would depart….40 minutes! Marcella and I debated (and I don’t mean this in a negative way) as to whether or not we should go. We were quite exhausted at this point and it didn’t really matter whether or not we would do any more sightseeing. Marcella was skeptical as to whether or not we would actually find my brother in Toulouse. After about a 2 minutes discussion, we decided to be adventurous and take the risk!
