We took a day trip and drove over to Rothenburg, which was just about an hour drive from Wurzburg.  We went into the walled city, which is the medievil part of the town.  This was definately a highlight of our trip and should be seen if you are anywhere near this town!

The streets in this part of the town are lined with colorful houses, shops and restaurants.  You can just wander for hours down the streets browsing through the one of a kind shops.  You can purchase clothing, art, jewlery, nutcrakers, cuckoo clocks, beer steins, medievil wares and more.  There is a wonderful garden area outside of the wall, to walk through and get great views of the walled city.

We ate in a wonderful little restaurant that was off of the main streets.  The food was fresh, full of flavor and presented beautifully.  We enjoyed our meal!  This was our first time to eat the white asparagus that you see all over Germany.  It was delicious!  I wish we had this in the states.

In the evening we took the night watchman's tour.  The English speaking tour takes place only once a night.  The tour guide was brilliant!  He speaks English very clearly and is super entertaining and witty.  You learn a lot of history about this picturesque town as you walk through the city listening to his tales.
