Up to the North to Get Educated!!
From First Week In England in Bayeux, France on Jul 03 '06
So we were in Bayeux.
I know no one really knows where it is and this is fair. It is north of Caen which is a town known for its massive battle in WW2, when around 75% of the town was destroyed in the DDay invasions. Bayeux seemed like it was a better spot to stay since it looked closer to the beacvhes when it actually wasnt, but none the less we did manage to get to Juno and Omaha. They were pretty interestingm I mean for the most part they were beach, so there ya go. But we saw the canadian and usa memeorial at the respective beaches and the US one was just out of this world. I mean they USAed it up as they always do but it was a bit too much for the type of monument, but nevermind. The number of graves however, in the USA cemetary was so large you kept thinking it would end but didnt, and the worst part about it was that most if not all were from the one day, D-Day June 6th. After we saw the must see memorials, we decided to walk around Bayeux and see what they offered, and in doing so we found an amazing place to have dinner. I will try and get pictures up this time aswell on a later entry. But all in all a very nifty, small and somewhat touristy town.
