Arrival...

After around two hours of mind-numbing travel on the tube (please mind the gap between the train and the platform) I finally arrive at Heathrow, the worlds third busiest airport.

For those of you who've watched the opening scenes of 'Love Actually' based at Heathrow Arrivals, I can tell you that it even better in real life. Tired, anxious relatives waiting for tired, nervous passengers; both becoming elated, delighted souls at first sight of their loved ones.

A redhead, a longhair and a midget...

I stand, waiting, for a redhead, a longhair and a midget (Mum, Simon & little sis Maria) to appear in the arrival runway (built in such a way that you can see the person walk through the doors long before you're able to lock them in that vice-like hug).

And so it is that Maria runs toward me, dragging what must seem like the worlds heaviest and least important suitcase, in a mammoth effort to get to my waiting arms.

I find it a strange and cruel human design flaw that I don't have enough arms to hug everyone at once. Excited chatter all round as we stop for a coffee before Mum & Maria head off to Coventry and Simon and I jump on the underground to head home to North London.
