Chiang Rai

After a nice lie in we were picked up from our guesthouse in Chiang Mai by a minibus taking us to the Thai-Laos border.  The journey was really nice only lasting five hours on a comfy air condition bus (we can say 5 hours was nice now after our latest boat ordeal-explained later) and we arrived at Chiang Khong a small town on the border of Thailand and Laos. The journey was uneventful except for one traffic accident in the mountains.  After dinner at our guesthouse we headed to a bar to have a few drinks and to watch a film with a few of the people we had met on our travels. Then to bed ready for our early departure into Laos!
