Was happy to be leaving freezing Canada behind.  Wasn't a good start to the day as my flight to Mexico city had to turn back due to a cracked cockpit window! We had to fly back to Toronto at low altitude! ended up getting into Mexico 4 hours late.  Arrived to thunder and lightening storms! Oh well beats the snow.  Marys' mum had prepared alovely Mexican meal with quesidellas, yum yum.  Her parents don't speak any english so ahd to get by with my basic spanish and hand signals.  Met the 2 family parots, very cute.

Next day got the subway into the city.  Everyone was in big winter jackets and theres me in a tshirt, ha ha spot the Scot! I was warm, was 25c.  Went to the Zocalo (plaza square), then visted the National Palace and was the Diego Rivera murals.  The city cathedral was huge, in fact it's the second largets in the World after St Peters Basillica.  It was amazing and there was a service going on inside so watched for a while.  Also stopped by the templo mayo excavations (aztec city of tenochtitan)  There was a big market outside in the square, lots of weird and wonderful things on sale!

Tried the local Paloma(tequila, grapefruit and lemonade)- slurp.
