We arrived safely in Egypt, it was very hard and sad to leave Glasgow but we had to press on to get our flights and I think we managed to get everything done in the house before we left.  Today we had a day to ourselves and then our tour started today.  We saw the Egypitian Museum and the pyramids and the sphinx - very cool.  Group seems good and we leave tonight for Aswan on an overnight bus, which I hope won't be too painful, but it is an overnight bus so I am not too optimistic :-)

Egypt is kinda crazy in Cairo, the traffic is insane - there are no lanes and everyone honks their horns like mad!  Some people are very nice and some are very dodgy - it is hard to tell the difference at first but bascially nothing is for free so if someone is helping you they usually expect you to pay them so we are just avoiding all that - pretending not to speak english works a treat!  I thought it would be harder with loads of people staring and all that but so far it is not so bad, but Cairo is a very busy city and maybe we will stick out more when we go to other places.  the entire population of Egypt lives on 6% of the land!  So when I say busy I am not exagerating.  Our guide today was very good and studied 5 yrs of egyptology and has worked 18yrs as a guide so she knew everything! We saw the Egyptian museum and the Pyramids and the sphinx and went to a papyrus shop where they put art on the oldest type of paper in the world. Pyramids were amazing.  Mark went inside to see the area where they put tomb.  We have someone different everyday but I think they are all meant to be very good.  The food is not the best but we are managing and Mark is even trying some new stuff :)
