Bangkok in Bad Weather
From Deepening the Groove Between Bangkok and Hanoi in Thailand on Oct 19 '08
Having visited Bangkok twice last year, I was in no rush to return tho I would never say no. I'm an Enigizer battery, how could I? Besides, if you get bored of visiting one place too many time, it means you don't have a varied enough perspective of it.
So this year's visit to Bangkok, I decided to focus my angle of perspective on shopping; including a recon mission specifically aimed towards spectacles and other optricianist services. And I don't have too much to say on the matter...
If I go back to Bangkok, I know where to start.
It appeared by after about the third optrician shop I entered that the monopoly over Bangkok's optometrists was held by a single company, which I even forget the name of. But I can tell you that the ladies are always dressed in white which, with air con assistance, does work nicely against the slightly-more-than-bearable conditions outside.
Having reached a conclusion on optometry in Bangkok sooner (or not) than I hoped for, I jumped on a tuk tuk to take me from Banglampu to Siam square where I was promised more shopping genres. Only to make a long but fun story short, I was convinced by the weather and a security guard to turn back when he politely informed me that it was 40 minutes by tuk tuk, and the sky not-so-politely brought to my attention that I needed to shower.
But I still haven't said die. If I go back to Bangkok, I know where to start.
