The city of Petra is amazing! The Nabateans built this city directly into the side of the mountain.  I never realized that so many future civilizations use older one's for themselves.  In this case, Petra was eventually used by the Romans and then Greeks in later years.  I have found this to be the case with the Egyptians too.  Makes sense, but somehow I just never though of it.

The city is built into sandstone and the water created a huge gorge that is over 300 meters!  I hiked up this mountain and it is quite tiring.  But the views were worth it!  They put a restaurant at the other end of the city - so after you hike in you can eat some yummy food.  It is a great idea as the city is quite huge and takes all day to see.  Many guidebooks recommend 2 days, but I think 1 works.  It's a long day - but you don't need two.

There is nothing else to do outside the ancient city... so staying here for additional days is a waste.  The internet access is the slowest on the planet.  I just played some guitar on my second day.  I'm def getting better.  By the time I get back I might be able to play everyone a Bowie song.

I found a pizza place here in the city that serves pretty good thick crust pizza.  After the bad food I've been eating for the past 5 weeks - it was welcome!
