Today was AT-Maysing (remember that? No? Fine.) and funny at parts. We were ALL terrorised by a friggin mosquito last night! It was so close to my head I thought it was in my EAR laying eggs! (must've been one of those sleepy, irrational thoughts). I think it was flying round the room doing circuits of all our heads! Wee bastard! It woke me at 3 am, so I put in earplugs thinking it would suffocate it. Then it woke me up again at 6am when the earplugs fell out. It was so close to my ear I thought it was definitely there so I poured water in my ear to drown it! Then when I drained my ear and still hear it, I figured it must be in my hair so at 7am I went for a friggin' shower! Haha! If only I'd known it was a renegade mossie I would've kept sleeping! But as fate works in mysterious ways, we decided (J was up at this point) to head to TEOTIHUACAN for some hardcore mesoamerican temple action.

This place is really easy to get to so PLEASE don't pay the hostel tour prices...jump on the metro (which is $2 per journey and takes you ANYWHERE in Mexico City which is pretty good considering the size of the place), then get a bus from Terminal Norte straight to Gate one at the site...you'll save yourself lots of dosh this way! And you get free Mariachi music on the buses.
AMAZING; views of the whole complex and valley with the mountainous backdrop!

I cried a little bit when I first saw the pyramids because it's so cool...it's really awe-inspiring! And Jodie was "totally taken aback by how cool and vast it was"! Hopped off the bus at gate one, pair our $48 each for the entrace and wandered straight in. It's breathtaking to see; some parts have been reconstructed very faithfully to the original, and other parts are so well preserved that you're actually looking at a piece of ancient history! 1st stop was The Street of The Dead - the Pyramid of The Moon looms like a giant right at the end of this area...very cool! Just to the right is a residential citadel section...if you keep walking up The Street of The Dead you end up in TSOTD complex with lots of pyramids and rooms. Saw some serpent heads complete with stucco paint here, and saw a few lizards. Then we climbed upthe MASSIVE Pyramid of The Sun (3rd largest pyramidin the world today). It was so steep, but we went for it and it was AMAZING; views of the whole complex and valley with the mountainous backdrop! Incredible! We were impressed we could climb up it considering we're still feeling a wee bit dodgy! Seeing the whole thing is exactly what we were talking about earlier; how amazing it is that we can do this and see everything! Back down the pyramid we wandered up to the Pyramid of The Moon - we could only go part way up but the view was insance...ALL the way down TSOTD, with a great view of the Sun pyramid. Big, steep steps up to it which were quite good fun to waddle down. Anyhoo, wandered about some more, sawmore pyramids, etc and managed to avoid the majority of the tourists and schoolkids going about. And we managed to avoid a thunderstorm by catching the bus back to Doof in the nick of time!
