It's a small world
From Backpack Attack in Eger, Hungary on May 29 '08
The last few days have been a whirlwind of lectures, interviews and a million other little jobs. It's been intense, long hours and a lot of work, but every second is worth it. I have met some of the most amazing people.
My favorite is Liviu Mocan. He is a Romanian scupltor (www.liviumocan.com) who is working on this huge project to put a giant sculpture on each of the 7 continents. He has designed sculptures with biblical messages in a modern format to give hope in areas of despair. He completed one in New Zealand near a hospital and is now hoping to one in India near an orphange, in America near a death row prison, near a cemetery, and other places. His passion for both work and God are amazing, but in addition to that he has a great sense of humor and a childlike playfulness. I've gotten to know both him and his wife and they are just amazing people.
There are about 20 more people who would go in that cateogory and someday I will have to tell you all some of their stories. It's been pretty incredible to be able to meet so many people from all over the world in one place. To hear about their lives and trade e-mails and know we can keep in touch no matter what corner of the globe we end up on. Technology makes the world pretty small sometimes.
We are now we are wrapping things up. The forum ended yesterday and this afternoon we head back to Budapest. Last night the whole huge group of volunteers and a couple speakers went to a medieval restaurant where they bring you a huge platter of meat for the whole table. It was hilarious and fun. The platter had shishkabobs (I have no idea how to spell that) on swords. It was awesome.
My ear seems to be doing better, I think the medicine worked. Tomrrow I head out on my own to Germany and everyone else either flys home or keeps travelling. Hopefully I will get a chance to update tomorrow. Much love to all.
