Xian itself was nothing special, another big city, but the Terracotta Army a couple of hours outside the city certainly was special. We gazed in wonder at the scale of the undertaking, the huge number of figures and the fact that so much of it was still uncovered.

And then down the road from the army we sat on top of the actual tomb buried in an artificial mountain and imagined the rivers of mercury and ceilings inlaid with pearls to represent the stars along with the untold wealth though to have been buried their for the last 300 years.  It certainly put Stone Henge into a bit of perspective!
