Taking the local bus totally changed our traveling experience. When you have a car you are looking on the reality from inside of the car. Without a car you are in the reality.

Made it to Puerto Viejo and crashed at a place recommended by Lonely Planet. Alex the owner has his own private Jungle going on. We talked to him about or plan of getting to Tortugero through Trinidad. And he said what we have almost no chance unless we are willing to charter a boat for 300 bucks. We went out for dinner and talked and talked about what we should do next and then we talked some more and a little more. It was really hard to decide if we should take a chance and try to get to The Caribbean side through Nicaragua, or if we should take the sure way. So we decided to take a chance and go to Trinidad (border with Nicaragua.
